On December 8, 2017, a session on the RFI was held at Science Forum South Africa, at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. The session included panelists from Sefako Makgatho Health Science University (SMU) – Beverley Summers, Research Councils UK (RCUK) – Stuart Taberner, the UK Collaborative on Development Sciences (UKCDS) – Sheila Mburu, Basel University – Edwin Constable, and the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) – Carel IJsselmuiden. The session was moderated by Linda Nordling (Research Africa).
The RFI was introduced and its application for various institutions was discussed in presentations by the various panelists. Following this, the floor was opened for questions from the audience. The idea of the RFI was well received and a great deal of interest was shown in the initiative.
