SciDev.Net published an article on the Research Fairness Initiative, which concentrates on the South East Asian perspective of how such an initiative can be beneficial. With quotes from key stakeholders from the Philippines, the RFI is starting to grow at a global level.
An RFI Workshop in collaboration with CAAST-Net Plus in Nairobi, Kenya, was hosted by KEMRI with support from the Kenyan Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) and the Spanish Foundation for International Cooperation, Health and Social Affairs (FCSAI).

Organised by the PCHRD in Manila on March 17th, 2016, COHRED was invited to present the Research Fairness Initiative for discussion at a panel session. Participants included representatives from the Newton Fund, Institut Pasteur, the University of the Philippines, Manila, National Food Research Institute, the Philippine Assistant Secretary for Health and others.
COHRED held a closed RFI Workshop co-organised by NSTDA on February 10th to 11th, 2016. The purpose of this meeting was to present the Research Fairness Initiative to NSTDA and test its applicability in the organisation’s different departments, including IP, finance and research teams.
